Residence One
Matthew O’Malia was the project architect for Residence One at Elliott Elliott Norelius Architecture. The design concept of this building came from listening carefully to the client’s ideas for their house and carefully combining those with the site.

The house is built on a south-west facing property overlooking a bay. The floor plan is divided into two volumes and then shifted to optimize the views of the bay and the solar gain. The building's steel frame projects over its surroundings on an exposed concrete foundation, creating a weightless effect as the house floats over the site. The home’s north facade is tightly screened from the elements and the driveway, while the south faÁade is open to the sun and views.
